Ketamine-Assisted Therapy
Ketamine for Trauma and Couple Work:
Ketamine-assisted therapy represents a cutting-edge approach in mental health treatment, particularly for trauma clients and couples seeking profound healing. This innovative modality combines the administration of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with psychotherapy to address a range of mental health concerns. In the context of trauma, ketamine-assisted therapy has shown promising results in facilitating deep emotional processing and reconsolidation of traumatic memories. Its unique ability to induce a dissociative state can help clients safely explore and process traumatic experiences, often leading to significant breakthroughs in therapy. Similarly, when utilized in couples therapy, ketamine-assisted sessions can provide a transformative opportunity for partners to explore and heal relational wounds. By fostering a heightened state of introspection and empathy, ketamine-assisted therapy can facilitate profound insights and foster deeper connection and understanding between partners. As research continues to unfold, ketamine-assisted therapy holds great potential as a therapeutic tool in the journey towards healing for both individuals and couples impacted by trauma.

What to Expect:

During ketamine-assisted therapy, clients are first referred for medical approval from Journey Clinical, a specialized service that conducts thorough assessments to determine eligibility and develop personalized treatment plans. The therapy sessions are conducted through telehealth, allowing clients to undergo treatment in the comfort of their own homes. The client receives their prescription through Journey Clinical, then administers ketamine via an oral lozenge, which typically begins to take effect after about 15 minutes. Ketamine can induce altered states of consciousness such as dissociation, vivid imagery, and deep emotional introspection. No ketamine experience is the same, so be prepared and open for the medicine to help in whatever way is needed from your inner healing wisdom.

Throughout the session, clients are closely monitored to ensure their safety and comfort, with me present to guide them through the experience and help process emerging emotions and insights. Clients have the options of a psycholytic dose, which is a smaller dose where the therapist and client work directly together, or a psychdelic dose, where the client takes a larger dose to explore their inner world while I take a non-directive approach in supporting the session. Post-session, clients debrief with their therapist to integrate the experiences and insights gained during the altered state into their therapeutic journey. Multiple sessions may be required over several weeks, tailored to each client's specific needs. This unique and intensive therapeutic process aims to provide rapid and profound relief from symptoms, fostering significant psychological and emotional healing.
