Areas of Expertise

Complex Trauma

The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) is a therapeutic approach developed by Lisa Schwarz, which integrates multiple modalities, including neuroscience, somatic therapy, and parts work. CRM views trauma as a disruption of the body's natural healing and protective mechanisms, leading to the fragmentation and isolation of traumatic memories and emotions. The approach emphasizes the importance of creating a sense of safety and connection with the therapist and using specific techniques to access and integrate internal resources to support the natural healing process.  Overall, CRM offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to treating trauma by addressing the underlying neurobiological, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of healing.

Couple Therapy

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, which focuses on helping couples identify and express their underlying emotions and attachment needs. EFT views relationship distress as a result of unmet attachment needs and negative patterns of interaction that can cause partners to feel disconnected and emotionally isolated from each other. EFT utilizes specific techniques to help couples identify and restructure negative patterns of interaction, strengthen emotional bonds, and promote greater emotional intimacy and connection. Overall, EFT offers a compassionate and effective approach to working with couples by addressing the emotional and attachment needs that underlie relationship distress.

About Me

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, proud to be part of the incredible team at Geiger & Associates. My journey began with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Long Beach, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine.

Prior to stepping into the role of a licensed therapist, I dedicated myself to supporting youth in an Intensive Outpatient Program and a crisis shelter. Now, within the therapy room, my passion lies in guiding clients through trauma reconsolidation and fostering reconnection in relationships, drawing from my expertise in the Comprehensive Resource Model and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy.

And if you're fortunate, you may even encounter my furry co-therapists, Tofu, Halo, and Elbow, who often lend their comforting presence to our sessions.

Beyond therapy, I savor the joys of culinary exploration, indulging in delectable dishes at both upscale restaurants and hidden gems. Let's embark on a journey towards mental wellness while swapping stories of our favorite culinary discoveries!
